Pivot backs (sometimes called twin pivots) are ideal for wherever a semi-functional, permanent attachment is desired. Commonly used in custom truck and auto interiors, and popular for caps, footwear, drapery applications, apparel, and crafts. Often used with Serrated Tacks, but can also be paired with Pivot Tack Backs. Rust-resistant finish.

We stock pivot backs in three styles:

2-Piece (raised by default) as shown in first image, contains a separate spring steel attachment. PACCAR Kenworth OEM depending on year but interchangeable with (and preferred to) 1-Piece Raised.

1-Piece Raised backs are PACCAR Kenworth OEM depending on what was available when manufactured. This is an older style and less favored today due to stiffness. We still have some older stock available (shown above). #36 1-PIECE RAISED BACKS ARE IN EXTREMELY SHORT SUPPLY AND WE HAVE TEMPORARILY REMOVED THEM FROM THE WEBSITE. Please call for availability.

1-Piece Flat is frequently specified for baseball and newsboy-type caps, mortar boards, and any application that calls for flat tack-type buttons. Raised pivots may work better for hats made with thick or brushed fabric.

Try a nail driving tool for trouble-free installation of finished pivot back buttons —not essential, but very useful.

Pivot backs meet international standards in all sizes. They do not fit unmodified Osborne, Wade, and newer C & C Metal button dies in size #22. Fits some Rowley button dies when paired with low wall shells —follow link for more information.
